Vasavi Public School Celebrates Grand Annual Sports Day ‘Khel Utsav 2025-26’
Hyderabad, 6 December 2025 – Vasavi Public School, Himayathnagar, came alive with colour, energy and discipline as the school celebrated its Annual Sports Day – Khel Utsav 2025-26 in a grand ceremony on Friday.
The event was graced by legendary rowing coach and Padma Shri Dronacharya Awardee Shri Ismail Baig, Chief Coach of the Rowing Federation of India, as Chief Guest, along with Secretary, Vasavi Academy of Education Shri V.M. Parathasarathi, and Academic Director Ms. Jaishree Rao.
The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp, unfurling of the school flag, and the ceremonial lighting of the Sports Torch by the Chief Guest. The torch was proudly carried in a victory lap by Sports Captain Diya Suri, Head Boy Sneh Dudhat, Head Girl Nidhi Gupta and other student leaders before igniting the cauldron — symbolizing the flame of passion and sportsmanship.
A majestic march-past by the four vibrant houses captains and the deputies — led by Head Boy and Head Girl, showcased flawless discipline and house spirit.
Principal Mr. Srinivas Reddy presented the Annual Report, detailing the holistic achievements across academics, sports, and cultural activities, which demonstrated the school's commitment to all-round student development this year. The report also highlighted its Vision ,Mission and paid tribute to the school’s enduring legacy of excellence under the motto “Learn to Serve”.
Followed by the report, the school magazine - Reflections was officially released. Later, Class X toppers and the outstanding staff members were felicitated for their remarkable contributions.
The cultural and drill segment was a visual treat as students of all classes presented breathtaking performances: a graceful Welcome Dance, adorable Bat Drill by Pre-Primary, colourful Umbrella Drill by Classes I & II, energetic Dumbbell & Ball Drill by Classes III & IV, spectacular House Flag Drill by Classes V & VI with soaring flags of all four houses, elegant Saree Drill by Classes VII–IX, serene and perfectly synchronised Yoga Asanas display, and the show-stopper — daring and flawless Human Pyramids by Classes VIII–X, with students rising tier upon tier and the top child proudly waving the Tricolour.
Intense track and field events for juniors and seniors kept the excitement soaring throughout the day. Medals, house trophies, and march-past awards were distributed amid loud cheers.
In a stirring address, Padma Shri Ismail Baig stated that the event brought back fond memories of his own school days, shared his journey of transforming Indian rowing on the global stage, inspiring students and the parents with the message: “if parents entrusted their child to him, he would make that child a rowing champion.” He concluded, offering high praise for the students' efforts, specifically commending the school's excellent academic results.
The Presiding Officer, Shri V.M Parthasarathi in his address warmly praised Chief Guest Shri Ismail Baig for his monumental achievements in rowing, acknowledging his role in transforming the sport on the global stage. Speaking to the students, he highlighted that the students' efforts reflect the school's commitment to blending academic finesse with sports excellence and value-based education.
The memorable day concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Mr. Parag Wadhavkar HoD of physical Education Department followed by declaration of the meet closed, and National Anthem.
