House of Echoes
The author of ‘House of Echoes’ is Barbara Erskine. She was born on 10 August
1944 in Nottingham. Erskine has a degree in medieval Scottish history from the
University of Edinburgh. She is the author of six bestselling novels that
demonstrate her interest in both history and the supernatural, plus two collections
of short stories.
Her books have appeared in at least twenty different languages. She lives with her
family in an ancient manor house near Colchester, and a cottage near Hay-on-Wye.
Joss Grant, adopted at birth, inherits Belheddon Hall from her biological parents.
Eager to begin a new life there with her husband, Luke, and Tom, her small son, she
is also impatient to learn about her newly discovered family who lived there for
generations. Not long after they move in Joss hears echoes and senses an unpleasant
presence, watching her from the shadows. Tom wakes up screaming at night.
In this gripping, mysterious, and thrilling novel, we see a family’s life turn into a
nightmare. Are they imagining them? Are they spirits from her past?
With Belheddon’s tragic and dramatic history, Joss doesn’t think it’s just a
coincidence.
Frankly, I did find it to be slightly overlong and it could have been a
tad shorter. It is worth reading for people who love thrilling
mysteries. It is truly a good-written book and the characters
portrayed are quite interesting. 450 pages fictitious novel is a
suspense thriller which definitely will keep you on your toes. Read
the book to find out what happens to the young family
